MANILA, June 20 —
The Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) will launch Wednesday (June 21) the Philippine government’s unified campaign against illegal drugs.
The campaign will be known as “REHABiNASYON”, which aims to take a holistic approach in making sure that the country’s drug problem will be eliminated using the full extent of the law, and at the same time putting a premium on the rehabilitation of drug surrenderers.
The campaign will feature three components: #RealNumbers, #RealSolutions, and #RealStories. These components are based on five pillars of action, namely: drug demand and supply reduction, civic awareness, treatment and rehabilitation, and alternative development.
The real score launched earlier this year, #RealNumbers reports the latest verified facts and figures related to the war on drugs. It features data gathered by different enforcement agencies through its several operations. The data, presented and updated on a weekly basis, will serve as the government’s and other stakeholders’ guide in determining the status of the campaign against illegal drugs.
#RealNumbers shall be maintained as accurately as possible to ensure accountability among ICAD’s member-agencies.
Care for the people #RealSolutions and #RealStories shall highlight the most important part of REHABiNASYON – rehabilitation.
These components will promote the different programs of other ICAD member-agencies in making sure that not one of the afflicted Filipinos will be left behind.
Initiatives like treatment of former drug dependents, livelihood programs, job security, and alternative modes of development will be reintroduced and aggressively implemented across the country.
These components will also raise awareness among stakeholders, conveying a message that the welfare of the former drug dependents and their affected families is still the government’s top priority.
REHABiNASYON aims to realize the vision of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte that the elimination of illegal drugs will protect and ensure a better future for Filipino families, especially the youth.
Under the supervision of the Office of the President, ICAD was formed on March 6, 2017 by the virtue of Executive Order No. 15. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency serves at the Committee’s chair.
Its member departments include the Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Justice, Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Agriculture, Department of National Defense, Department of Budget and Management, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Civil Service Commission and the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
ICAD member-agencies also include the Dangerous Drugs Board, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine Information Agency, Public Attorneys Office, Office of Solicitor General, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Immigration, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Anti-Money Laundering Council.
